Girl, age 12, dies of nut allergy from school meals

It should have been another healthy meal for young Alessia. But last Friday, the 17th of January, at 1:30, Alessia died from an allergic reaction to her school meals. The food was reported to have contained high concentrations of nuts in the almond cake dessert, an ingredient which Alessia was severely allergic to. The school, Saint Clare School, has offered its deepest apologies and taken full responsibility for the tragic event.
Headteacher, Mrs Lang, has stated that she ‘Took allergies and health concerns very seriously’ and will be helping police investigate ‘how this mistake managed to make it to our students' plates.’ and will be taking measures to prevent it happening again.
The parents of Alessia Cannoli, age 12, have stated there horror and shock at the school stating that ‘surely the word 'almond' should have raised some flags.’ They stated that they will be ‘mourning for the rest of our lives.’
As of the 19th of January, the police have reported that they will begin an enquiry into the school's catering system and find out where the flaw lies. They also wished to stress the importance of having an Epi Pen, stating that ‘due to the carelessness of both the school and the parents, a young life has managed to slip away.’
